William Roper has completed two residencies at the Oberpfälzer Künstlerhaus in Schwandorf-Fronberg, Germany. The first was in conjunction with the Djerassi Resident Artists Program. The second stay was made possible in part by a grant from the City of Los Angeles, Department of Cultural Affairs. In Schwandorf, Roper began the series of compositions for solo instruments and small ensembles that he has come to call Postkarten aus Schwandorf. To date, the series includes 14 compositions.
Roper will present a program of some of the works from Postkarten in the San Fernando Valley. He will be joined by his long time collaborator, soprano Christina Linhardt. The concert will take place on Saturday, May 14 at 7 PM at the Canoga Park Youth Art Center, 7222 Remmet Ave., Canoga Park, CA 91303; in conjunction with the exhibition Connections Past & Present.
